Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’ve freed up $4 million each year in food costs for local nonprofits — redirecting those dollars to programs and services that directly support families across Kentuckiana.
Surplus food from restaurants, grocery stores, manufacturers, farms, schools, and events can make an immediate difference in our community. Kentucky Harvest makes it easy to donate food that might otherwise go to waste, helping feed neighbors in need while reducing landfill waste.
Our MissionThe way we see it, there are two problems with one solution:
Problem #1: Food insecurity While there are already many nonprofit organizations dedicated to feeding their communities, they’re not focused specifically on food waste as a necessary way to feed people.
Problem #2: Food waste Excess food in landfills is more harmful to the air we breathe than the entire airline industry.
Our solution? We act as the purveyors sourcing food that would otherwise go to landfills and delivering it to the organizations that serve Kentuckiana.
We work 7 days a week, 365 days a year. And we won’t stop until we’ve solved both problems.
